F. Kevin Standing
Kevin Standing, 74, of Dunkirk, New York, passed away Thursday January 23, 2025. Kevin was born in 1950 in Stanford, Connecticut. He resided there until the 1990s, at which point he relocated to Pennsylvania for his career.
Eventually, he settled into his dream home on the lake in Dunkirk, New York, where he retired. Husband of 40 years to Margaret (Peggy) and father of Sarah and Patrick, grandfather of Grace and Katherine. His greatest joy was his family. He was deeply involved with any celebration, recital, or game that his children or grandkids were involved in.
He loved planning menus for holiday get togethers and insisted on planning Thanksgiving dinner at least a month before. He was a true “foodie” and enjoyed talking about food, how to cook it, and where to buy the best ingredients. He was a proud collector of Bon Appetit magazines and still used recipes from the early 90’s for the perfect Thanksgiving meal.
He found joy in reading, watching the Yankees or Buffalo Bills, gardening, swimming in his pool, sausage making, napping by the lake, gourmet dinner parties with friends, listening to his favorite bands, fishing, golfing, cooking and a good Zinfandel. He was on the Shorewood Country Club board of directors initiating improvements for the club and golf course.
After driving across the country in the 70’s and traveling for work weekly, he boasted that he had been to all but 2 states. He was an accomplished leader, mentor, and Sales Director. He worked as the Director of Sales for the Northeast before retiring from Aderant.
A “Farwell to Kevin” party has been arranged at The White Inn on Saturday February 1st at 1pm and remembrances to be shared at 2:30pm. A light lunch will be offered.
Flowers can be sent, or donations can be made to his two favorite causes. The junior golf program which helps teach 5-18 year olds how to golf at the Shorewood Country Club or Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club of Dunkirk for their “Take a Kid Fishing” program which provides a special day for kids to learn how to fish. Donations for the fishing program will be accepted by the family, and donations can be made directly to Shorewood for the Junior Golf program.
