Joan Marie Floccare (Kopliner)
Joan Marie Floccare (Kopliner), 84, died peacefully at home on December 29, 2024, after a short battle with dementia. Joan was born May 11, 1940 in Dunkirk, NY, to Frank Kopliner and Celia Abersold (Majkut).
Joan graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1957, and began working for Kraft Foods. Her dedication and performance earned her a leadership role at the company. In 1961, Joan married her lifelong love, Dominic, and began her career as a dedicated homemaker and mother. Together, they raised three children: Cheryl, Tammi, and Michael. Joan and Dominic shared a love for travel and spent their time between The Villages, Florida, and Williamsville, NY, when not exploring new destinations.
Joan showed unconditional generosity to her family and others. She dedicated many years as a volunteer at the ECMC gift shop, a role she truly enjoyed. Joan loved to play cards, bingo, and spent time at the slot machines, where lady luck seemed to truly favor her. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed their sporting events, concerts, or activities. She spent entire summers bringing the family together, creating some of our most cherished memories. Joan also created the most magical Christmases for her family, more enchanting than any story, and we’ll celebrate these memories for generations.
Our family deeply grieves the loss of a revered matriarch, an inspiration to us all. Joan is a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her unwavering love and strength for her family. Though Joan could deliver a message quite firmly, it was always backed with loving support. Her generosity was unconditional, and she prioritized family. We will all miss her quick-witted, sarcastic humor, and especially her laugh.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Dominic Floccare, her parents Frank Kopliner and Celia Abersold, her sister Carol Hoisington, and her son-in-law Timothy Schrand.
Joan is survived by her three children Cheryl (Julia) Floccare, Tammi Floccare, and Michael (Anissa) Floccare. She is further survived by her grandchildren Zachary (Sarah) Kaus, Amy (Graham) Williams, Bliss Floccare, Madeleine Floccare, Michael Jr. Floccare, Dennis Mitchell Floccare, Amelia Floccare, Dominic Maxwell Floccare, Michelle (Ian) Moffatte, and Jennifer Schrand.
