John Edward Jasinski
John Edward Jasinski ,72, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully at Roswell Park after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
John was born May 2, 1952 to the late Edward and Corabel Jasinski.
In his younger years John was a volunteer fireman with Citizen’s Hose Co. 2 and served with the fire police response team. He was a member of the Dunkirk Exempt Fireman’s Club and American Legion Post 62 as a social member.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a forklift operator at Carriage House in Dunkirk for over 40 years.
John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Buffalo Bills, as well as the Sabres and Bandits. When not watching a game or NASCAR race, he would always be found solving fill-in word puzzle books.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Theresa (Terry) whom he married on June 22, 1974, and their four children William Jasinski (Jennifer Sipp) of Dunkirk, Tammi (Craig) Sullivan of Fredonia, Tina (Adam) Majecki of Apex, NC, and Janelle Jasinski also of Dunkirk.
Also surviving are his eight grandchildren Cody Jasinski, Aurora Britton, Connor Sullivan, Hadley and Holden Majecki, Aiden Jasinski, Malachi and Dobry Douglas.
Mourning his loss are his three siblings, James (Violet) Jasinski, Randolph Jasinski Sr., and Cynthia Ikeda, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two siblings, Joan Planty and Clinton W. Harper and several aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in his memory to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (give.roswellpark.org).
Friends and family are invited to call from 4-7 pm on Thursday, at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, 56 E. Doughty St., Dunkirk.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 24 at 11am at Christ Community Church, 219 Berry Road, Fredonia.
