Lauretta E. Washy

Gowanda – Lauretta E. Washy, 85, of Gowanda passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She was born on August 9, 1939, daughter of the late Leonard and Anna (Lizotte) Bourgoine. On June 4, 1960, she married Andrew Washy, who predeceased her on October 6, 2001.

Mrs. Washy was a longtime and devout member of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda, and had also worked in the cafeteria of the St. Joseph’s School for many years. She also volunteered for the Red Cross, and was a member of the Collins Senior Group.

Lauretta is survived by five sons; Daniel Washy of Dayton, Christopher (Veronica) Washy of Gowanda, Victor (Kathleen) Washy of Pittsburgh, PA, Gregory Washy of East Randolph, and Michael (Michelene) Washy of Perrysburg. Also surviving are nine siblings; Leonard (Margaret) Bourgoine Jr. of Dansville, P. James (Sandra) Bourgoine of Wayland, Linda (Robert) Ritacco of California, Robert (Cindy) Bourgoine of Dansville, Richard Bourgoine of Conesus, Debora (Robert) Mahany of Dansville, Wayne Bourgoine of New York City, Dean (Jane) Bourgoine of Wayland, and Brenda (Robert) Bourgoine of Utica. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and loving husband, Mrs. Washy is predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Annette Washy, a brother, Dale Bourgoine, a sister Theresa Diane Badami, and a grandson, Jonathan Washy.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4-7 pm from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. Gowanda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11 am from St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda.
