Patricia F. Schroeder

She was born May 27, 1949 in Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. She was the daughter of Jesse and Frances Wharton. Pat spent her childhood and teen years growing up in England with her parents and seven brothers. At the age of 19, she moved to the United States. She was employed by Fredonia State University and later became the General Manager for Colley’s Pools and Spas in Fredonia, NY until retirement. She was a very hard worker and put in many hours at the store. She was dedicated to her customers and was respected and relied upon as an expert in her field. Pat was also a member of the Fredonia Memorial American Legion Post 59 Women’s Auxilliary, where she served on the Activities Committee helping to plan entertainment and events for her fellow members. As a natural artist and decorator, she loved to sketch her children in their younger years and decorate the home as if out of a Christmas movie. She also loved to spend time at the racetrack during the summers cheering on her husband, Jim, who participated in the sport. Pat also loved music and it would be remiss if we didn’t mention some of her favorite artists, The Bee Gees, ABBA, CCR, and The Beatles. Patricia will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a spirited and headstrong woman who charmed everyone she met. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Chautauqua County Hospice team and every single friend, caregiver or stranger that supported her in her final days. She often called them, “her angels”. Patricia may have passed on but she certainly left her mark on our hearts. We will love you forever, Mom.

Patricia is survived by: Her children: Geoffrey Modlin, of Dallas TX, Julie (Brian) Currier, of Amherst, NY and James (Ann Marie) Schroeder, Jr., of Portland, NY. Grandchildren: Isabel Currier, Jeffrey Schroeder and Morgan Schroeder; Brothers: David, Bob, John, Steven and Tony Wharton of Bedford, Bedfordshire, England.

Besides her parents, Jesse and Frances Wharton, Patricia is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, James B. Schroeder, two sons: Scott Modlin, Jeffrey Schroeder and two brothers, Terry and Michael Wharton.

A Celebration of Patricia’s life will take place at Fredonia Memorial American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main Street, Fredonia, Saturday January 18, 2025 from 12-4pm.
