Roberta L. (Garigal) Kwiej-Freeman

She was born May 29, 1976 in Dunkirk, NY. A Dunkirk High School graduate, she moved to Arizona at 20 years old. It didn’t matter where she lived because everyone she met fell instantly in love with her. Bird’s beautiful smile and infectious laugh lit up every room she entered.

Bird spent most of her career making travelers happy by serving up drinks, food, and managing at Chaparral/Embassy Suites in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was also a part-time realtor.

The centerpiece of her existence was being an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. Her major interests were being with family as much as possible, playing cards, eating spaghetti dinner, and her stepdad’s famous chicken wings. Also, the thrill of the chase shopping, then returning what she bought. Roberta will be devastatingly missed by all of us. Our hearts will never be the same.

Surviving members are her loving husband, John D. Freeman III, amazing daughter Piper J. Freeman, Mommy Deborah Garigal-Sysol, Brother Thomas J Kwiej, sisters in heart Kristin Kwiej and Audra (Danforth) Frazier, father Thomas Kwiej, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Point Gratiot on June 21, 2025, more details to follow.
