Charles Arthur Divine Jr., 92, of Fredonia, NY, died Tuesday February 11,2025 at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Charles was born April 14, 1932 in Reading, PA, the son of

Charles Arthur Divine Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Divine. Raised in Reading, he graduated from Reading High School. Continuing his education, he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College and a MA in Religion and Organizational Behavior from Yale University.

A United States Army Veteran, Charles served as a First Lt. in the 283rd Ordinates Detachment of the Third Army at Redstone Arsenal Base in Huntsville AL.

Charles worked as a metallurgist at Carpenter Technology in Reading, PA, a science teacher at Platt Technical High in Milford, CT and Director of New Product Development at Al-Tech Steel in Dunkirk, NY.

Lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, he participated in the Synod of Lehigh Valley, Chaired the Committee on Ministry Presbytery of Western New York and was a longtime member of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, where he served as a church elder and clerk of the session. Charles also served on the Executive Board Chautauqua United Way and the Executive Board of Meals on Wheels.

He enjoyed sailing, camping, chess, bridge, pinochle, golf and traveling with his wife and was a voracious reader,

Charles is survived by: wife, Carrie Misner Divine, of Fredonia, NY; 2 sons: Edward “Ned” Charles Divine (Lillian), of Dunkirk, NY, and Luke Arthur Divine ( Missy) of Palmyra, VA; Grandchildren: Jordan Luke Divine (Tate), of Crozet VA; Amanda Elizabeth Foy (Matt), of Richmond, VA; Michael Arthur Divine (Maggie), of Huntington WV; Audrey Joy Divine, of Dunkirk, NY, Cali Liddon, of Huntington, WV, Maxwell Arthur Divine, of Huntington, WV;- Ruth Divine Gordon, of Myerstown, PA.

Besides his parents, Helen and Charles Divine Sr., he is predeceased by his sister, Carol Divine Thorman.

A Tribute will be held at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave., Fredonia, NY on Sunday February 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
