GOWANDA — Craig L. Brown, age 80 of Gowanda passed away Monday evening February 10, 2025 peacefully at the Buffalo Hospice and Pallative Care Facility in Cheektowaga, NY.,

Craig was born in Jamestown on July 2, 1944 the son of Clayton L. and Virginia (Wiltsie) Brown

He was predeceased by his parents and his step-father Rodney Brown, along with his brothers; James Brown and Jeffrey Brown.

Craig graduated from Randolph Central School and shortly after, enlisted and honorably served with the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.

He was a great man with many accomplishments in his life.

He worked as a Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Deputy earlier in his life and also as an RN. Despite his blindness, he achieved his Degree in Hospital Administration and served as a long time hospital board member and board president for both the former Tri-County Memorial Hospital and TLC-Lake Shore Health Network. Craig was awarded the New York State Trustee of the Year Award for which he was very proud. He also was awarded The Spirit of Gowanda Award. Craig was a member of the LK Painter Center Board of Directors for a brief time and enjoyed memberships at the James Cruden VFW Post 5007nand the Gowanda American Legion Post 409. the Gowanda Moose Lodge 1382 and the Gowanda Kiwanis Club. He was a long time member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Gowanda.

Surviving are his loving wife Sue (Sweet) whom he married on May 19, 1984, brothers; Gary Brown (Jodi)of Randolph and Greg Brown of Springville; a sister; Suzanne Suhr (Tom) of Webster, NY. He also leaves behind wonderful friends Joan and Tom Duffey of Gowanda and his beloved dog Corky. Also, many nieces and nephews.

He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call Saturday February 15, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda , a service for Craig will commence at 6:00 pm at the close of visitation on Saturday .
