Henry L. Hoisington
Henry L. Hoisington, 57, of Dunkirk, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at home. Born in Silver Creek, NY on April 12, 1967, son of Henry L. Hoisington and the late Carol A. (Kopliner) Hoisington.
A graduate of Fredonia High School, Henry went on to work as an Operating Engineer for Local 17 in Buffalo, where he dedicated his skills and hard work until his retirement after 20 years of service.
Henry was known for his warm and charismatic personality, possessing a great sense of humor. He was a man with a very big heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Most importantly, he was a loving father who was exceptionally proud of his daughter.
To further showcase his warm and compassionate nature, Henry had an extraordinary love for animals.
Known to operate on what friends and family lovingly referred to as “Henry Time,” he infused every gathering with laughter and joy, complemented by his love for entertaining friends and family.
Among his many interests, Henry found joy in hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time in nature. Cooking and sharing good food with others was a passion of his. He was also an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed camping, boating, and working on cars, particularly his cherished Dodge Coronet.
One of his proudest accomplishments was the construction of three cabins over the years. Additionally, Henry took great satisfaction in completing numerous car restorations and house renovations.
Memberships include the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club and the Dunkirk Lakeside Club.
Survivors include his loving companion, Samantha Heist, and her daughter Kristina; former wife and mother to their daughter, Julie Hoisington; daughter Leigha Rae Hoisington; father Henry L. Hoisington; sisters Jodi Bowman, and Kimberly Gee; nieces and nephews Abbi Rae and Cash Bowman and Taylor and Korey Gee. Also survived by his dogs Cooper and BoBo.
In addition to his mother, Henry is preceded by his grandfather Frank Kopliner, whom he had a very close relationship with, and his dogs Midnight, Magic, Jeter and Chunk.
Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 from 1-4 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY. Prayer services will begin at 3:30 p.m. Interment in private.
