John N. Zbytek

John N. Zbytek
John N. Zbytek, 78, of Palm Coast, Florida departed this world on Saturday, January 25, 2025 after a short illness. John was born on the West Side of Buffalo, NY in 1946 to Chester and Estelle Zbytek. Upon graduation from high school, he began an almost forty year career as a dedicated employee with National Fuel Gas.
John was a hard working man who always had time for his family. In 1979, John married Pat, the love of his life, and together they created a blended family. Their home in Silver Creek N.Y. was always filled with gatherings of family and friends. The gatherings grew larger as John became “Papa” to his many grandchildren.
After retirement, John and Pat built their dream home in Palm Coast, Florida. Florida became an adventure of new and old friends and family. John appreciated the advantages of the beautiful Florida sunshine. He started a second career in landscaping at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also invested his time in many hobbies; he perfected his golf game, developed an affinity for convertibles, enjoyed poker nights (especially when he was able to win all of Lucy and Herb’s coins), regained his love of photography, and attended weekly sessions of “the Old Fart’s Club” . Most importantly, John enjoyed spending his time with his family and good friends.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia (nee Williams); his children Scott (Jennifer) Zbytek, John (Jean) Mahaney, and Kelly (Mark) Lutz; his brother Chester Zbytek; his twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and one niece and two nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Delphine and Daniel McCarthy.
A Celebration of John’s life, love and friendship will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 2-5 pm at the Firehouse on the Lake, 23 Jackson Street, Silver Creek.
