Joshua Stephen Jaffray

Joshua Stephen Jaffray
Joshua Stephen Jaffray, 45, of Dunkirk, died suddenly on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Born June 24, 1979, he was the son of Charmaine Jaffray and the late Richard Jaffray.
Growing up, Josh loved sports and played baseball, basketball, and football. He graduated from Dunkirk Senior High School and resided in Dunkirk his whole life. He worked at Dunkirk Specialty Steel.
Josh absolutely loved the San Francisco 49ers, New York Yankees, and the North Carolina Tar Heels. On game days, you could usually find him at a buddy’s house, having a cold one, playing corn hole, and talking his smack (all in good fun). He played in men and co-ed softball teams for many summers. He could somehow catch a ball way out in the field with a beer in one hand, and a mitt in the other.
He frequented the Fillmore and Bart’s Cove in Dunkirk, where he was always surrounded by tons of friends, laughing and having a great time. Everyone in town knew Josh, and to know him, was to love him. If you were his friend, you could always count on him to have your back.
Family meant everything to Josh. His best friends were his brothers Charlie and Jimmy. He was always the first one in line to protect and defend if that’s what it came down to. He even had the Jaffray family crest tattooed on his arms. He was proud of who he was and where he came from.
Josh was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, and dog dad. He loved his dog Bosco for 16 years and brought him everywhere with him.
He is survived by his mother Charmaine Jaffray, his brother Charlie Jaffray, nieces Jamison Jaffray (Lucas Lugen) and Kaedence Jaffray, nephew Jaydon Jaffray, and a great-nephew Leighton Lugen.
He is predeceased by his father Richard Jaffray, his brother James Jaffray, and his dog Bosco.
Josh will be missed by so many people. His passing is a great reminder to tell the people you love that you love them, because tomorrow is not promised. A celebration of life will be forthcoming at a later date.
Arrangements are by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY.
