Richard A. Denea

Born in Gowanda, August 6, 1938 the son of Arthur and Minnie (Leonard) Denea.

Richard married the former Deanna Silleman in Gowanda November 15, 1958, Deanna passed away March 13, 2008.

Richard worked for the Gernatt family of Companies for 42 years, he was a crane operator and a dispatcher while working for Gernatt’s. After retirement Richard and his wife retired to Avondale, Az. While in Arizona Richard worked for the Pendergast School District as a bus attendant for nearly 10 years, While in Arizona Richard and Deanna were members of the St. Mary’s Basillica in Phoenix. After his wife’s death Richard moved back to Gowanda , he was a member of the Gowanda Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge # 1382, the Slovenian Club and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 409 all of Gowanda. Richard was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution in Bradford, Pa. and the Mayflower Society. Richard loved gardening, NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills , in home Yahtzee tournaments, going to the casino and watching old time westerns.

After Deanna passed and when Richard moved back to Gowanda Richard re kindled his relationship with his high school sweetheart Joyce (Linkowski) Springer whose husband had passed away also , they shared their life and family with each other for nearly 15 yrs and seemed to pick up where they left off so many years prior. Joyce’s family was a big part of Richard’s later life.

Survivors include Joyce Springer and her children NaDean Hill, Greg (Shauna) Springer and Gail Korbar along with Richards son Michael Denea of Az. , grandchildren Tanya Barnes, Tim (Lauren) Denea and Trisha Denea. Great grandchildren; Alexandra Barnes and Collin Barnes . Richard is also survived by Joyce’s grandchildren and great grandchildren and his sister Joanie Holcomb along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife Richard was preceded in death by a son Mark Denea, and sisters Shirley Mae Stefanik and Jeanette Sternisha .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday February 22, 2025 @ 11:00am from St. Joseph’s RC Church , East Main St . Gowanda (please assemble at church). There is no prior visitation . Interment in Versailles Cemetery,

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Gowanda Ambulance Service PO Box 143 Gowanda , NY 14070.
