Roy E. McKinnon Jr., 77, of Silver Creek, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, January 29, 2025 at his home.
He was born on August 17, 1947 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Roy Sr. and Florence (nee Sullivan) McKinnon. On November 1, 2003 he wed the former Marla Stevens in Fredonia, NY.
Roy is survived by a son, Derek (Katie) McKinnon of N. Tonawanda, NY ; a grandson , Maxwell McKinnon; a brother, Daniel (Sue) McKinnon of Forestville, NY; a sister, Cindy ( late Tom) Brown of Dunkirk, NY; two step- children, Robert (Renae) Cain of Holland, NY and Palma Labarbera of Sheridan, NY; two step-grandchildren, Madison and Lukas Cain.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael McKinnon.
He was a proud veteran of the US Coast Guard, having served his country during the Vietnam War. Roy retired as a steel worker for Special Metals Corporation in Dunkirk, NY after many years of service. He also was the former owner of The Getaway Bar & Grill in Fredonia from 1994- 2004.
In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. He also liked golfing, going to the casino, gardening and he enjoyed spending time at home.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4-6 PM, where a memorial service will follow at 6 PM. with the Rev. Michael Leamon officiating. Interment will be private at Glenwood Cemetery.
