Antonio Rivera

Antonio Rivera, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on February 20,1937, husband of the late Ada (Fred) Rivera and son of the late Guillermo and Consuela Cruz Rivera.

Antonio worked for various grape farms in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area for many years.

Antonio will be remembered fondly for his deep affection for his wife, Ada. The couple shared countless moments of joy, often found together on their front porch, enjoying ice cream and each other’s company. His love extended to the small creatures in his garden, as he found joy in hand-feeding squirrels peanuts, a testament to his gentle spirit.

As a devoted father, Antonio was revered and admired by many. He cultivated his garden with care, tended to his lawn, and took great pleasure in creating homemade wine. Daily walks in the neighborhood also brought him joy.

A self-taught musician, he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, and he also took the time to learn how to play the accordion, sharing the joy of music with those around him.

Survivors include his children, Tony Rivera, Cecilia (Ariel) Salgado, Oscar Rivera, Osvardo (Mary) Rivera, Joann (Bill) Pearson, Ada Rivera, Danny Rosario, Jose (Bridget) Rivera, Hiram (Tina) Rivera, Ricardo Rivera, former daughter in law Brooke Manning and Sara (Carlos) Fred. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Antonio is preceded by his siblings Zorraida (PR), Bernadette (Dunkirk), Carmen (Buffalo/Miami), Candida (Dunkirk), Araceli (PR), Araceli II (PR), Berardino (Dunkirk), Guillermo (Dunkirk), Jose (PR) and Luis (PR).

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10-12 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc. Prayer Services will begin at noon. Interment in Webster Road Cemetery.
