COLLINS, NY– Grizzly Stockwell, age 75 of Collins passed away Monday evening March 24, 2025 at the Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Gowanda, September 15, 1949 the son of Clyde and Julia (Abers) Stockwell.
Grizz was a Vietnam Veteran honorably serving with the United States Air Force.
A semi truck driver for nearly 55 years, He retired from the Gernatt Family of Companies. He also was known in the area for doing pig roast for a variety of occasions and for many friends and families.
Grizzly married his “Lovie” Debra A. (Carr) on October 6, 1990 in Collins.
Grizz was a member of all of Gowanda’s Clubs; the James Cruden VFW Post 5007, the American Legion Post 409, Gowanda Moose # 1382 and the Slovenian Club. His passing is felt by all who knew and loved him in the community.
Survivors besides his wife Debra A. Stockwell are his children ; Steve (Michelle) Stockwell of Versailles, Kirstin A. Knowles of Conewango, grandchildren; Christopher Stockwell, Shaina Willoughby, Bryant IV, Brittney and Brody Knowles, great grandchildren ; Lacey Davis, Lucas, Bolton and Mia Stockwell, Paisley and Bella Willoughby, along with Siblings; Deborah Stockwell of Dunkirk, Patricia (Richard) Pimm of Rochester and Thomas (Ali) Walzer of Longs, SC.
Grizzly is also survived by several nieces and nephews including great and great great.
Besides his parents, Clyde and Julia, Clyde Steven Stockell Sr. was preceded in death by siblings; Geraldine Johnson, Beverly Farrar, Dorla Felt, Ronald Stockwell, Robert Stockwell, Marilyn Anable and Randolph Stockwell.
The family encourages Buffalo Bills attire be worn for calling and/or funeral.
Friends may call Friday at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 3:00-7:00pm. Funeral services with full Military Honors will be held Sarurday March 29, 2025 @ 11:00am from the Gowanda Free Methodist Church 149 West Main St. (please assemble at church) . Interment to follow in the Park Lawn Cemetery Wesley, NY. Pastor Simon Knighten Officiating.
Memorials, if desired may be made to a non profit Veterans Organization of ones choice.
