Lois B. Westburg

Born in Gowanda July 14, 1942 the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Mowry) Bowers.

Lois retired from WNYDDSO in Buffalo as a Client Care Supervisor. Her New York State employment spanned 25 plus years where she had worked at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center then transferring to Buffalo Psychiatric Center at Gowanda’s closing before working with the Western New York Department of Disability Service Office based out of Buffalo.

Lois married Richard E. Westburg January 8, 1974 at the Gowanda Free Merhodist Church.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother Lois enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren life living across the street and in the neighborhood of her daughters. She loved tending to her flowers which brought her much joy especially knowing warm weather was coming. She also enjoyed her birds that would come for their daily feeding at the house.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years Richard, her children; Jacqueline Kota of Gowanda, James Kota of Colorado Springs, Co. and Kimberly Wright of Gowanda. Grandchildren; Joseph Gorenflo Jr. ,Nicole Kota, Christopher Kota, Ethan Wright, Zachary Wright and Delanie Wright. Great grandson Joseph Gorenflo III also survives as do her son in law Joseph Gorenflo Sr. of Gowanda and nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Mabel, sister, Anita Naples, brother, Alan “Dick” Bowers, son in-law Douglas Wright and the untimely death of her daughter Annette Gorenflo who passed away in August of 2024.

A Funeral Service for Lois will be held Saturday March 22, 2025 at 1:00pm from the Gowanda Free Methodist Church ; 149 West Main St. Gowanda (please assemble at church) .
