Marilyn Nelson Gossett

Marilyn Nelson Gossett, 97, of Dunkirk, N.Y., peacefully passed away on February 22, 2025, at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Born June 24, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Clarence G. Nelson and Lucile Cheney Nelson.
Marilyn graduated from Jamestown High School and began her career as a dental assistant. In 1955, she and her late husband, Ernest C. Gossett, moved to Dunkirk, where they raised their family near the shores of Lake Erie.
Marilyn was a devoted mother and homemaker. In the mid-1970s, she joined the Sidey’s Department Store family business, working in the jewelry department until its closing in 1993. In her retirement, she found immense joy caring for her granddaughters and spending time with friends.
Marilyn treasured her family and the moments they shared together. She is lovingly remembered by her son Jeffrey (Betty) Gossett and daughter Sandra (Henry) Jensen, both of Fredonia; her grandchildren Danielle (Joseph) Mucha of Winter Garden, FL, and Alycia (Bryan) Bongiovanni of Fredonia; and her great-grandchildren Camden, Ellie, and Beckett Mucha, and Rhys Bongiovanni. She is also survived by nieces, Christine Bingham and Callie Saff.
Marilyn is reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, husband, brother Lester Cheney Nelson, and son David Nelson (Kyla) Gossett.
As we celebrate her long and beautiful life, family will gather this summer to honor the incredible woman she was and the lasting impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
