Peter Anthony Notaro of Fredonia was called to his heavenly reward on March 1, 2025. He was born in Buffalo, NY, on April 28, 1947. At age 2, he was adopted by Peter R. And Josephine (Barone) Notaro of Fredonia. He married Vicki Bliss Notaro on May 27, 1972.
He was a licensed optician with an associate’s degree in ophthalmic dispensing from Erie Community College North. He owned and operated Precision Vision in Fredonia until his retirement from the field in 1999. Later in life, he re-entered the workforce as a community assistant for The Resource Center clients.
He generously volunteered his time and talents throughout his life. He was loved for his kindness, sense of humor and positive attitude.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fredonia, serving as the CYO lay director during the ’70s, ’80s and into the ’90s. He also was an adviser for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton CYO, a diocesan youth ministry volunteer, and supervised youth at many national conventions. He was director of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton food pantry for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Chautauqua County Home Auxiliary and volunteered at the Home (now CNRC) for 45 years. He is a Third- and Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Peter is survived by his loving family, his wife of 52 years, Vicki; twin daughters, Carrie (Justin) Harmon and Christina (Charles) Civiletto, and granddaughter Serafina Marie Civiletto; his sister-in-law and brother-in law, Dawn and Bill Ingham; sister-in-law, Cookie Bliss; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as countless treasured friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, June and Roy Bliss; and a brother-in-law, Terry Bliss.
If desired, memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton food pantry or the Fredonia Fire Department.
Family and friends are invited to attend St Anthony’s Church, Fredonia on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia. Interment will be private at St Anthony Cemetery.
