William S. “Bill” Cox, Sr.

William S. “Bill” Cox, Sr., 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Dover, PA, on the morning of February 11, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Diane M. (Serafin) Cox, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary on April 4, 2024.

Born in Dayton, OH, on July 18, 1952, Bill was the son of the late George D. Cox and Cammie M. (Godbey) Cox Muniz. He previously lived in Fredonia, NY, and dedicated 17 years of his career to Great Lakes Printing in Dunkirk, NY. Over the years, he also worked for KBA (formerly Motter Printing Press) and most recently for Lowe’s.

Bill was a passionate sports fan, cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Orioles. He also had a deep love for motorcycles and found joy in the open road. Known for his dry wit and talkative nature, Bill had a remarkable ability to connect with others, making friends wherever he went. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, whom he supported wholeheartedly.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Diane, and their three children: Deborah Thomas of York, PA; Rebecca Johnson and her husband, David, of Stephens City, VA; and William S. Cox, Jr. and his wife, Heather, of La Plata, MD. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Dylan Thomas and his companion, Minda Swartz; Samantha Thomas; Robert Torres; Kyra Johnson; Catherine Johnson; Orion Cox; Brayden Cox; Chance Cox; Faith Cox; Savannah Vasquez; Seth Escabi; and Nathan Escabi. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Michael Thomas and Colt Thomas, as well as his siblings, Lisa Muniz, Raymond Muniz, and Rose Strickland.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Dave Cox, Dana Muniz, and Carol Muniz.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Following cremation, a celebration of life for Bill will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation.
