Ruth E. Dolce, 97, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Gowanda Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Gowanda, NY.
She was born in Villenova, NY on May 2, 1927 the daughter of the late Frank and Ellen (nee Sausaman) Hazelton. She married the love of her life Anthony Dolce on July 12, 1947 in Silver Creek at Our Lady of Mount Carmel celebrating 54 years of marriage before he predeceased her on Dec. 19, 2001. Together they raised four children, Frances (Douglas) Kuppel, Joseph (Kathleen) and Richard (Kathy) Dolce all of Silver Creek, NY and Lucy (Alfredo) Rost of Toronto, Canada; 10 cherished grandchildren, Jason (Amee) and Christopher (Connie) Pantano, Joseph (Racheal) and Melanie Dolce, Michelle Aptaker, Brandon Dolce, Lindsey (CJ) Howlett, Lauren , Devon and Joel Dolce; three step-grandchildren, Nathan (Mandi), Mindy and Nicholas (Kateri) Kuppel; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Nancy) Hazelton of Brocton, NY; two sisters, Shirley Cash of Portland, NY and Beatrice Munson of Brocton, NY. Their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were their priority and Ruth’s pride and joy.
She was predeceased by four siblings, Almon and Cliffor Hazelton, Virginia Rutkowski and Beverly Frost.
Ruth was a graduate of Forestville Central High School “Class of 1944.” She served her community in many different capacities, she was very involved in Scouting a former Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. She helped with the Silver Creek Recreation Commission, providing many activities for the children in the area. Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church was very dear to her. She taught Pre-Cana classes, belonged to the Mount Carmel Social Club (50 yrs), Rosary Altar Society, past president of the Mother’s Club and a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a former president of the Student Exchange Program F.I.C. of the Diocese of Buffalo.
She was a member of the Tri-County Country Club in Forestville, NY since 1951. Ruth and her beloved husband Tony “Snappy” loved golfing. They helped organize the Hengerer Golf tournament at Tri-County and Ruth was involved with the event for over 27 yrs.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting and reading. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends she will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4-7 PM. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 AM., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY. Please assemble at the church. Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Ruth’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
