Steven J. LaVoice

Steven J. LaVoice, born on April 29, 1931, in Stockton, NY, and esteemed resident of Fredonia, passed away on April 11, 2025, lived a full and honorable life. Inspired by his unwavering kindness and the treasured moments he shared with family and friends, those who knew him will remember Steven for his warmth, integrity, and the joyful spirit he brought into their lives.

Predeceased by his beloved parents, Alfred and Florence (Deakin) LaVoice, and his cherished wife, Anne, who preceded him in passing in 2022, as well as by his grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica LaVoice, Steven’s legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted daughter Linda and her husband, Bill Shields, and two sons, Matthew with his wife, Billie LaVoice, and Michael with his wife, Barb LaVoice. His lineage flourishes through the lives of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory.

Steven’s patriotism shone brightly through his service as a staff sergeant with the Second Bomb Wing of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Continuing his life’s journey back home, he dedicated many years to the Town of Pomfret, NY Highway Department until his well-deserved retirement. His commitment to his community was unwavering, and he richly contributed to local institutions and activities.

A lifelong learner, Steven graduated from Brocton Central Schools, shaping the foundation for his numerous accomplishments. As a faithful member of St. Dominic’s (St. Patrick’s) in Brocton, NY, he participated in their Holy Name Society, reaffirming his dedication to his faith and community. His steadfast service continued as an exempt fireman life member of the Brocton, NY, Fire Department, underscoring his deep-rooted belief in civic engagement.

Steven carried his passion for camaraderie into his leisure activities as a life member of the Westfield Moose Club, the Brocton American Legion Post 434, and through cherished card games of Cribbage and Pinochle with friends. His strategic mind and sportsmanship at the card table will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Honoring a life marked by service, family, and friendship, Steven J. LaVoice leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will comfort and inspire his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends may visit Morse Funeral Home Brocton, NY Tuesday April 15, 2025 from 4PM to 7PM. With a mass of Christian burial to be held at St Dominic Roman Catholic Church Wednesday April 16, 2025, at 11AM.

Interment will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery
