Silence never
solves anything
Editor, OBSERVER:
A long time ago Irish statesman Edmund Burke said “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” It seems the billionaire owners of The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times are choosing to do nothing, by failing to endorse a presidential candidate this year.
I used to think gelatin spines only belonged to GOP politicians but now the lack of a backbone has spread to wealthy business owners as well.
This complete lack of courage has led to multiple resignations at both newspapers and many subscription cancellations. Apparently these owners are “obeying in advance” and trying not to ruffle Trump’s feathers.
These are desperate times for Americans – the eyes of the world are upon us. Do we still have enough men and women with a sturdy spine who recognize the dangerous threat of another Trump presidency?
We’ll have the answer on Nov. 5 … let’s hope we still have a country after that.
