John F. Cenedella, formerly of New York City, has accepted a position as senior products specialist – financial futures and options – with Merrill Lynch, Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. The son of Phil and Gerri Cenedella of Dunkirk, John is a 1988 graduate of Boston University.
Forty years ago — 1983
A recently published book on beer, which rated and compared more than 500 domestic and imported beers available in the United States, gave the Fred Koch Brewery’s Golden Anniversary beer the highest rating of any North American-style lager beer. The book, by expert Howard Hillman, also listed the Dunkirk brewery’s Black Horse Ale as top rated compared with the imported Canadian ales. Koch’s Golden Anniversary, one of about 140 North American-style lager beers brewed in the U.S. and Canada, was the only one to receive a four star, or “superb” rating.
Fifty years ago — 1973
Dorothy Bentley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Bentley of South Dayton, was elected as a student representative to the Faculty Committee on Personnel for the department of chemistry at Ithaca College.
