Thirty years ago — 1994

Dunkirk High School senior Michelle Gornikiewicz has been selected as “Student of the Week.” Currently ranked first in her graduating class, she is a member of the National Honor Society and listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” Michele has been a class officer all four years, an active staff member of the school newspaper, “The Citizen,” and serves as host of the WDOE “High School Highlights” radio show. An accomplished athlete, she has played volleyball, basketball and softball for four years. The daughter of Timothy and Susan Gornikiewicz, 17 Market St., Dunkirk, Michelle plans to study chemical engineering at the University of Rochester or Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Forty years ago — 1984

Dr. Joseph Galindo has been elected president of the Brooks Hospital medical staff for 1984 for a two-year term. Other officers include: Dr. Zsolt Szekely, vice president; and Dr. Sawarngwong Wirojtana, secretary. Completing the executive committee are Dr. Kang Kim, Dr. Richard Milazzo Jr., Dr. Raja Gopalan and Dr. Ramiah Sathanathan.

Fifty years ago — 1974

Richard H. Brevoort Jr., on duty in Bermuda with the U.S. Navy, spent a recent leave with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Steger, 16 Cedar St., Dunkirk and with friends in Sinclairville.
