HEALTH CARE: More quiet progress for Brooks-TLC
A recent announcement by state Gov. Kathy Hochul touting Kaleida’s partnership with regional hospitals, including Brooks-TLC in Dunkirk, is more positive news for the local facility that was struggling mightily four years ago. With $74 million in funding approved from Albany, there is a strong indication the timetable for building is on track.
“This investment allows us to move forward with the previously announced plans to build a new Brooks-TLC Hospital System Inc., in Fredonia,” said Ken Morris, president and chief executive officer at Brooks-TLC. “Preliminary work is well underway and Kaleida Health intends to file a certificate of need (CON) with the New York state Department of Health in the next 60-90 days. This milestone will officially kick off the planning and eventual construction process of the new facility.”
In the heart of the winter, it is not easy to think about the building season — but it is not far away. Brooks-TLC is continuing its behind-the-scenes work while mapping plans for the new Fredonia facility.
If all continues to go well, signs of progress may be seen soon at the property at 412 W. Main St. in the village, which is west of the roundabout on Route 20.
