Gowanda-Pine Valley cancels varsity football season
GOWANDA — The high school varsity football season for the Gowanda-Pine Valley Panthers has come to an abrupt end.
In a letter sent out by Joseph Bruening, athletic director, he notes the team has “not had a significant number of athletes cleared by the medical staff to participate in this week’s contest.” He notes the Panthers will forfeit its game this weekend against Portville.
“This will effectively end the varsity football season,” Bruening wrote.
Last week, the team forfeit its game to the Southwestern due to a high number of injuries.
Senior members of the Panther team will still be honored during the junior varsity game against Springville-Griffith, which takes place tonight.
