Anderson earns Second Team spot in CCAA Central

The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division turned into a three-team race for first place in girls basketball this season.
The final standings ended with Portville in first, Frewsburg in second and Falconer in third.
Portville’s 9-1 finish landed Inga Welty Coach of the Year honors and Panthers senior Mallory Welty was named Player of the Year.
Welty’s senior season included scoring 17.5 points per game, grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game, picking up 2.3 steals per game and handing out 4.5 assists per game in league action.
The First Team was entirely comprised of players from the league’s top three teams.
Falconer senior Grace Lundmark scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and picked up two steals per game in league play for her First Team spot.
From Frewsburg were seniors Elise Sposato scoring 20.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.7 spg and 2.4 apg and Tyra Clark with 7.6 ppg, 12.6 rpg and 3.2 spg in league play earning them First Team honors.
Portville senior Mia Welty scored 9.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.8 spg and 3.3 apg and Panthers sophomore Lilly Bentley had 12.8 ppg and 9.1 rpg in league play to round out the First Team.
Second Team spots went to Cassadaga Valley freshman Emilee Anderson, Falconer junior Dani Krenzer, Frewsburg freshman Teghan Trocki, Maple Grove junior Erin Mansfield and Maple Grove senior Madison Price.
Earning Honorable Mention were Falconer seniors Tess Spangenburg and Ava Fenton, and junior Kayla Jo Lynn; Frewsburg freshman Ava Jimerson; Gowanda senior Aaliyah Stevens, and juniors Crissa Scanlan and Lena Stevens; Portville junior Teagan Kosinski; and Cassadaga Valley sophomore Andrea Johnson and freshman Aliyah Hopkins.
The Team Sportsmanship award went to Portville and the individual winner is Mia Welty. Other individual Sportsmanship Award honorees were Cassadaga Valley’s Hailey Anderson, Krenzer, Sposato, Lena Stevens and Mansfield.
