Last Monday, the Chautauqua Lake varsity volleyball team traveled to Rochester to compete in the Gary Adler Memorial Tournament at Gates Chili High School with 11 other schools. The Thunderbirds finished first in their pool with Greece-Athena, Spencerport and Rush-Henrietta. In the gold bracket semifinals, they were trailing Churchville 11-20, but came back to win 29-27. In the finals they beat Hilton 25-17. It was the second year in a row that Chautauqua Lake won the tournament.
On Friday, the Chautauqua Lake JV volleyball team hosted its Summer Showdown tournament. After finishing first in their pool, the Thunderbirds beat Jamestown 25-16, 25-10 in the semifinals and Gowanda 25-19, 25-21 in the finals. Karagan Fairbank was named to the all-tournament team and Nolianna Paddock was named tournament MVP.
