Trojans win track & field titles; Jamestown girls narrowly beat Fredonia on Monday

FALCONER — Behind double wins by Emma Lewis, Alexis Grijalva and Lauren Cotter, Southwestern downed Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 94-38 at Bill Race Field on Tuesday to claim the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 title.

Lewis captured the 1,500 meters (5:09.2) and the 800 meters (2:28.5), while Grijalva won the 400 meters (1:03.4) and the 200 meters (27.0) and Cotter claimed the high jump (4-6) and the triple jump (32-11) for the Trojans (5-0).

Paiden Wittmeyer doubled for the Golden Cougars (3-1) in the 100 meters (13.0) and the long jump (15-0).

MONDAY

JOHNSON IS TRIPLE-WINNER FOR JHS

Belle Johnson was a triple-winnner as Jamestown defeated Fredonia 73-63 in track & field on Monday.

Johnson came in first in the 400 meters at a time of 1:03.4, the 800 at 2:41.8 and the 3,000 at 12:55.6. Alivia Woffard was a double-winner for the Red Raiders taking first in the shot put with a distance of 28-feet, 9-inches and the discus throwing 90-feet, 10.5-inches.

Gigi Ferro was a double-winner for Fredonia, claiming first in a track and a field event. She took first in the 100 with a time of 13.5 and then she won the high jump at a height of 4-feet, 8-inches.

CLYMER — Leighanne Swan and Tess Flikkema were double winners for Clymer/Sherman/Panama in a 93-34 win over Silver Creek/Forestville on Monday.

Swan captured the 100-meter hurdles (17.1) and long jump (13-10.75) while Flikkema claimed the 100 meters (13.7) and 400 meters (1:03.4) for the Wolfpack.
