North Collins holds off Chautauqua Lake in boys soccer 3-2

MAYVILLE — The North Collins boys soccer team carried a 2-0 halftime lead into a 3-2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division victory over Chautauqua Lake on Thursday at Chautauqua Lake Central School.

North Collins built a 2-0 lead in a dominant first half with Derek Ebersole leading the offense, including a stellar second goal where he hustled through the Chautauqua Lake defense before firing a low shot past the keeper.

Chautauqua Lake (2-8-0, 1-5-0) fought back in the second half with a pair of goals from Nate Henry assisted by Kameron Press and Aden Gollhardt, respectively. Brendan Klossner made 11 saves in net for the Thunderbirds.

Daniel Downes made four saves in net for North Collins (5-3-1, 3-2-1).

MAPLE GROVE EDGES WOLVERINES

WESTFIELD — Ty Kraft scored from Jonah Foley in the 50th minute to give Maple Grove a 2-1 Central Division victory over Westfield/Brocton.

Foley opened the scoring in the 35th minute for the Red Dragons (8-2-0, 6-0-0) before Aiden Gatto scored from Carson Swanson in the 45th minute for the Wolverines (7-3-0, 3-2-0).

Nathan Cresanti made five saves for Maple Grove and Nolan Anderson made four saves for Westfield/Brocton.

BEARS BLANK SILVER CREEK

SILVER CREEK — Garrett Brink scored a pair of first-half goals for Frewsburg in a 2-0 shutout of Silver Creek in the Central Division.

Brink scored from Gavin Smith in the 14th minute and from Brendan Devereaux in the 21st minute for the Bears (6-4-1, 3-2-1).

Maddox Sheesley made four saves in net for the clean sheet.

The Black Knights fell to 2-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the league.

RED RAIDERS SCORE LATE

JAMESTOWN — Noah Rivera picked a great time to score his second goal for Jamestown when it hosted Fredonia in East Division action at Strider Field.

With the scored tied at 2-2 in the 78th minute, Rivera finished off a pass from Hubert Mulenda that put Jamestown ahead 3-2 for the eventual victory.

The Red Raiders (6-5, 4-2) scored two early goals with Andres Pacheco benefiting off a Mulenda pass in the 6th minute and then Rivera scored in the 15th minute unassisted. Noah Vrist picked up the win in net for the Red Raiders after making nine saves.

Rivera’s goal prevented overtime as Fredonia (3-6, 1-4) goalkeeper Andrew Cowan made 12 saves in net.

YOUNG LEADS TROJANS

Connor Young had a hat trick and added an assist to send Southwestern past Dunkirk 5-0 in West Division play at Karl Hoeppner Field.

Young scored from Seth Vaughn in the 11th minute and from Cole Johnson in the 16th minute before adding his final goal in the 52nd minute. Johnson scored from Young in the 11th minute and the scored a second goal in the 57th minute for the Trojans (8-1-0, 5-0-0).

The Marauders fell to 4-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the league.

CARDINALS ROLL WARWOLVES

CATTARAUGUS — Diego Stradi had three goals and two assists to lead Randolph to an 11-1 East Division victory over Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley.

Cooper Freeman had two goals and two assists; Zak Kachermeyer had a goal and an assist; Drew Hind, Caden Inkley, Jamie Nottingham, Ryder Smith and Jacob Pierce each added a goal; and Jacob Zink, Cody Slade and Ayden Shields each had an assist for the Cardinals (10-0-0, 6-0-0).

The Warwolves fell to 1-9-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the league.
