GOWANDA — The Gowanda girls lacrosse team began the Section VI Class D playoffs with an emphatic 19-5 quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Springville on Tuesday.

Chloe Luther was leading the charge again with nine goals and three assists for the Panthers. Lily Scanlan contributed nine assists; Felicia Scanlan netted a hat trick; Kiernan Quinn scored two goals and an assist; Lilliana Pierce and Enette John both scored twice; Cadence Luther had an assist; and Envy Cross scored once.

Springville was led by Brooke Ruzycki with two goals.

The fourth-seeded Panthers (15-2) will travel to No. 1 East Aurora (5-11) on Thursday for a semifinal matchup. Gowanda began the season with a 14-10 road loss to the Blue Devils, but since then has lost just once.
