The Basketball Camp of the Southern Tier honors competition champs

The Basketball Camp of the Southern Tier at Panama Central School honored several competition champions on the final day of camp.

In its second year back since the COVID-19 pandemic, over 80 girls attended this year’s camp along with several college athletes as counselors.

Oakley Smith was the JV free throw champion and Emma Oehlbeck was the varsity champion.

Bailey Burnett was the JV rapid fire champion and Oehlbeck was the varsity champion.

In the skills competition, Greta Gilevski was the JV champion and McKenna Kolstee was the varsity champion.

Gilevski also won the JV 1-on-1 championship, while Madison Debo won the varsity competition.

In 2-on-2, Gilevski and Gillian Daniels were the JV champions, while Carley Daniels and Addison Chess were the varsity winners.

The JV champions in 3-on-3 were Carli Short, Aubryn Runge and Averee Johnson. Keira Kinal, Evie Woodis and Carley Daniels won the varsity 3-on-3 competition.

Elizabeth Hammond was named the most improved JV camper and Chess was the varsity honoree.

Sportsmanship awards were given to Charlotte Marzec, Ayrienna Bunce, Lulu Maguire, Brookleigh Betts, Alivia Knight, Gillian Daniels, Adalyn Reese and Addie Wiggers.

Campers named to the All-Iron Woman Team were Ry-Lea Irwin, Bunce, Maleri Short, Alexis Smith, Oehlbeck and McKenna Kolstee

Team Duke was named the 5-on-5 champions, coached by Cole Gleason. Team members were Debo, Ava Kay Irwin, Sydney Hawkins, Liv Swan, Johnson, Bunce, Penelope Stow, Avery Seekings and Averie Rieff.

Special recognition was given to Alyson Canfield and Tanleigh Bestine, who received BCANY All-Academic honors. Bestine was also awarded a Camp Scholarship and was honored for being named to the BCANY Top 50 team.
