FREDONIA — Mike Kurmis shot 2-over 38 to lead Utility League golfers Tuesday at the Vineyards Golf Course.

Kurmis had two birdies, including a skin on the par-3 ninth hole after putting his tee shot to within 4 feet of the cup. The shot earned him closest-to-the-pin honors.

Rich Hofer’s 39 was the second-lowest round of the night. In addition to being closest to the pin on No. 5, Hofer carded 31 net and tied with Mario Argentieri for second in that category. Bob Kryzyanowicz’s 29 was low net and included 5 birdies.

John Taddio had a birdie on the par-5 second hole to claim a skin while the duo of Kurmis and Matt Hutchinson retained its team lead, 8.5 points ahead of Chris Penfold and Jim Waite with three weeks to play.
