Phillips has big second half as Westfield/Brocton pulls away

MAYVILLE — Tristen Phillips had two goals and an assist in the second half as Westfield/Brocton turned a 0-0 halftime draw into a 4-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division III boys soccer victory Monday.

Danny Bratton scored from Carson Swanson in the 48th minute to open the scoring before Phillips scored from Swanson in the 66th minute.

Nathan Henry scored from Michael Horvath in the 74th minute to make it 2-1, but less than a minute later Phillips scored from Swanson again to make it 3-1. Parker Gambino’s goal from Phillips in the 77th minute capped the scoring.

Nolan Anderson made seven saves for the Wolverines (5-1-2, 2-0-1), while Brendan Klossner made 18 saves for the Eagles (4-4-0, 2-2-0).

HIND HAS HAT TRICK

RANDOLPH — Drew Hind netted a hat trick as Randolph beat Pine Valley/Gowanda 9-1 in Division II play.

Hind scored from Cooper Freeman in the sixth minute, Isaac Pihlblad in the 12th minute and Parker Patterson in the 29th minute as the Cardinals scored six first-half goals.

Freeman scored from Patterson in the 17th minute, Pihlblad scored unassisted in the 27th minute and Freeman scored from Hind in the 28th minute.

After halftime, Isaac Pihlblad scored from Caden Inkley, Malachi Brown scored from Inkley and Griffin Nelson scored from Freeman.

Delsin Tallchief made three saves for Randolph (8-0-1, 4-0-0).

Noah Frontuto scored from Sawyer Bradigan with two minutes remaining for the Panthers (0-5-0, 0-4-0), who received nine saves in net from Cyrus Jackson.

BAILEY DOES IT ALL

FALCONER — Nathan Bailey had a hat trick, an assist, and also split five saves with Channing Brainard in net en route to a clean sheet as Cassadaga Valley/Falconer shut out Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley 8-0 in Division II action at Bill Race Field.

Bailey scored unassisted in the seventh minute, from Clayton Evans in the eighth minute and unassisted in the 28th minute.

Bailey assisted on Gabe Lundmark’s goal in the 25th minute, Lundmark assisted on a Cameron Katilus goal in the 26th minute, Hunter Hattaway scored unassisted in the 36th minute, Jakob Huling scored from Lundmark in the 57th minute, and Nathyn Gilbert scored from Evans in the 66th minute for the Golden Cougars (2-5-1, 1-3-0).

The Warwolves fell to 1-6-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the league.
