Wolverines roll Red Dragons 4-1

WESTFIELD — After battling to a tie earlier in the week, Westfield/Brocton and Maple Grove met again on Friday for a nonleague boys soccer matchup. With a late offensive burst the Wolverines got past the Red Dragons 4-1.

Carson Swanson netted a hat trick for Westfield/Brocton (2-1-1, 0-0-1), scoring his first tally in the 37th minute before adding the next two in the 66th and 74th. The Wolverines added another goal in the 75th from Anthony Gatto as he finished with a goal and an assist, Nate Laurito assisted the final tally and Danny Bratton set up the Wolverines’ first goal.

The loss drops Maple Grove to 0-3-1 on the young season.

CARDS DOMINATE

MAYVILLE — Four straight goals and an assist from Cooper Freeman led Randolph past Chautauqua Lake 6-2 in nonleague action.

Drew Hind added a goal and three assists for the Cardinals (5-0, 1-0), Jacob Pierce opened the scoring and Cody Slade assisted Freeman’s final two goals.

Chautauqua Lake falls to 2-2 overall.
