‘Billies defeat Wolverines at Westfield’s Pink Out the Gym
Volleyball teams raise money for Cancer Care of Western New York
WESTFIELD — Fredonia and Westfield joined for Pink Out the Gym and raised $510 for Cancer Care of Western New York in a nonleague girls volleyball match Tuesday.
Fredonia defeated Westfield 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.
Londyn Wilmot led the Hillbillies (9-6, 7-5 CCAA D1) with seven kills, four blocks, seven digs and three aces; Elizabeth Morris had five kills, seven digs and four aces; Katherine Fortna had five kills and two blocks; and Maddie Saunders had 16 assists, a block and five digs
For the Wolverines (10-7, 6-4 CCAA D3), Mackenzie Schumaker had seven kills; Charly Mathews had two kills, five digs and three aces; Sydney Hotchkiss had a kill, eight digs and two aces; and Avery Smith had seven kills
“It was a great night for volleyball,” Westfield head coach Greg Birner said.
PINE VALLEY SWEEPS MARAUDERS
SOUTH DAYTON — Danica Farnham had 13 digs, four aces, two kills, five assists and a block as Pine Valley swept Dunkirk 25-20, 25-17, 25-11 in nonleague action as the Panthers celebrated Senior Night.
Lizzie Roland had 10 digs, four kills, eight aces and a block; Ava West had six aces, three digs and four kills; and Maddilyn Robertson had an ace, four digs and six assists for Pine Valley (8-11, 4-6 CCAA D4).
Brooke Szymczak had an ace and four kills, while Chelsey Tramuto had two aces and three digs for the Marauders (1-18, 0-12 CCAA D1).
