Gaines, Trippy honored in B3
Jareese Gaines and Paul Trippy III were bright spots in a disappointing season for the Dunkirk football team.
Gaines, a senior wide receiver, was honored with a First-Team Offense by Class B3 league coaches for his performance, while Trippy, a senior defensive back, was named to the First-Team Defense.
Gaines led the Marauders with 17 receptions for 320 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a pair of rushes for 75 yards, including a 55-yarder.
Trippy was one of Dunkirk’s most reliable defenders. He added nine catches for 212 yards and two touchdowns offensively.
Dunkirk senior running back Kingston Hall was named to the Second-Team Offense after rushing 79 times for 861 yards and seven touchdowns. His longest run was 87 yards.
Marauders senior linebacker Dylan Bankoski and sophomore defensive back Aries Cheverez were named to the Second-Team Defense. Bankoski had three tackles for a loss and two sacks, while Cheverez had an interception.
Dunkirk senior kicker Lauryn McCracken and senior tight end/linebacker Ayden Martucci were honorable-mention selections.
Lackawanna sophomore running back Tyrone Clark Jr. was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year after finishing second in Section VI with 2,000 yards on the ground. He ran for 23 touchdowns.
Steelers senior lineman Sam Ikeguwonu was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 117 tackles, including 35 for a loss, and 17 sacks.
Depew won the Team Sportsmanship Award with senior fullback/linebacker Justin Refermat, the Wildcats’ Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
