FREWSBURG — Roger Markham was Falconer’s floor general for most of the night Saturday in the championship game of the Frewsburg Holiday Tournament at Frewsburg Middle/High School.

But when things got tight late in the fourth quarter, Markham became the Golden Falcons’ No. 1 option.

The junior guard hit a 3-pointer with 2:29 remaining to give Falconer a nine-point lead, then made five of six free throws down the stretch as the Golden Falcons beat Chautauqua Lake 68-54 for the tournament title.

Falconer led 50-38 entering the final eight minutes before the Eagles made a game of it.

Chautauqua Lake’s Nate Henry hit a 3-pointer and then scored in the lane to pull his team within eight with 4:13 remaining. Falconer’s Zach Markham scored on back-to-back trips for his team, but free throws from the Eagles’ Trent Houser and Brendan Klossner made it a nine-point game.
