White pours in 29 for Silver Creek boys

ELLERY — Simon White had 29 points to lead Silver Creek to a 51-43 nonleague boys basketball win over Maple Grove on Tuesday.

The Red Dragons (0-1, 0-0) started the game up 15-0 and led 15-5 after the first quarter, but the Black Knights answered with a 19-0 second quarter to lead 24-15 at halftime. Maple Grove again won the third quarter 20-12 to trail by one entering the fourth quarter.

Brady Eick chipped in 10 points for Silver Creek (2-0, 0-0).

Aiden Dahlberg led Maple Grove with 15 points and Ethan Verbosky had 9.

BROCTON — Blake Weaver poured in a career-high 37 points to go along with 15 rebounds, four steals and four assists as Frewsburg opened the season with a 69-59 nonleague win over Brocton.

Trent Lewis added 10 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals for the Bears (1-0), who led 33-28 at halftime.

Michael Garcia paced the Bulldogs (0-1) with 24 points and Nathan Laurito had 18.

WEST VALLEY — Walter Ebersole and Leon Lark scored 7 points apiece during a 23-5 second quarter as North Collins pulled away from West Valley for a 51-17 Division 4 win.

Ebersole finished with 16 points and seven rebounds; Lark had 10 points, six steals and five assists; Zander Miller had 11 rebounds; and Lucas Demmerley had 8 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles (1-1, 1-0).

Derik Schoepflin led the Wildcats (1-1, 0-1) with 10 points.
