Chautauqua Lake earns first win for Burnett

MAYVILLE — Eden Ludwig scored 11 of her game-high 20 points during a 17-5 first quarter as Chautauqua Lake earned head coach Sarah Burnett’s first victory with a 71-26 win over Brocton in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 girls basketball action Friday.

Ludwig added eight rebounds and three assists; Brina Jacobson had 12 points and five steals; Gracie Gerring had 12 points; Kaylee Tarr had 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals; and Cameron Mackey had seven rebounds and three steals for the Eagles (1-8, 1-4).

Makayley Nelson led the Bulldogs (1-9, 0-6) with 10 points.

FORESTVILLE — Danielle West scored 12 of her game-high 28 points during an 18-6 second quarter as Pine Valley went on to beat Forestville 55-41 in a Division 4 matchup.

The Hornets (4-3, 3-2) led 15-10 after the first quarter before the Panthers (6-1, 4-0) took control with their strong second quarter.

West added five steals; Danica Farnham had 9 points and 12 rebounds; and Sara Kruszka had seven assists for first-place Pine Valley.

Carilene Sliwa led Forestville with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds; Ingrid Gibson had 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals; Chymerah Genovese had seven rebounds; and Elizabeth Case had six rebounds.

RANDOLPH — Skylar Herington hit seven of Randolph’s 10 3-pointers as the Cardinals beat Falconer 55-33 in Division 3 play.

Herington finished with 25 points, while Payton Morrison had the other three 3-pointers for 9 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Sadie Steward chipped in 11 points and six rebounds while Quinn Pence had eight assists for Randolph (5-4, 2-0), which led 36-14 at halftime.

Augustine Krenzer led the Golden Falcons (4-5, 0-2) with 13 points.

FREWSBURG — Jadyn Trocki had 23 points, five assists and five steals as Frewsburg coasted past Gowanda for an 81-31 Division 3 victory.

Teghan Trocki had 16 points; Ava Jimerson had 11 points and five steals; Taytum Jimerson had six rebounds and five assists; and Elysse Gruber had five steals for the Bears (8-1, 3-0), who led 29-5 after the first quarter.

Corrina John led the Panthers (3-5, 0-3) with 12 points.

BIG SECOND QUARTER FOR WESTFIELD

WESTFIELD — A 17-5 second quarter helped Westfield take a 24-12 halftime lead as the Wolverines beat Panama 46-32 in Division 2 play.

Mackenzie Schumaker scored all 8 of her team-high points in the third quarter for Westfield. Sydney Hotchkiss, Maddie Burgess, Reagan Weingart and Naomi Ottey each chipped in 7 points for the Wolverines (5-4, 3-2). Weingart had a team-high six rebounds, Olivia Wolfe had four assists and Schumaker had four steals.

Kaitlyn Horton led the Panthers (4-4, 2-3) with 12 points.

Hailey Anderson grabbed seven rebounds, while Breonna Hopkins had four steals and three assists for the Cougars (7-1, 2-1), who led 29-23 at halftime.

Emma Rhinehart led the Panthers (5-4, 0-2) with 16 points, six rebounds and two assists, while Ali Haynes had six rebounds and two steals.
