Southwestern pulls away from Chautauqua Lake
JAMESTOWN — Five Southwestern players scored during a 16-7 second quarter as Southwestern pulled away from Chautauqua Lake en route to a 62-47 win in the third game of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day CCAA Showcase on Monday at Jamestown Community College.
Chase Hartnett led the Trojans with 24 points to go along with three assists; Landon Hooks had 12 points, four rebounds and four steals; Bradyn Fuller had 8 points and seven rebounds; and Connor Young had 8 points, five steals and three assists for the Trojans (3-8), who led 34-18 at halftime.
Nick Jacobson paced the Eagles (6-7) with 11 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists; Nate Henry had 9 points and three assists; and Carson Fairbank had 7 points and nine rebounds.
Southwestern shot 26 of 58 (44.8%) from the field, including 3 of 11 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 14 times, while Chautauqua Lake shot 17 of 46 (37%) from the field, including 5 of 20 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 22 times.

BIG 4TH QUARTER SPURS WILDCATS
JAMESTOWN — Sherman went 12 of 13 from the foul line and outscored Silver Creek 27-9 in the fourth quarter en route to a 49-39 victory in the fourth game of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day CCAA Showcase at Jamestown Community College.
Cal Cook made 7 of 8 foul shots and scored all 15 of his points during the final eight minutes for the Wildcats (7-6), who trailed 30-22 entering the fourth quarter. Jacob Ferranto added 8 of his 15 points, including four foul shots, in the final eight minutes.
Brady Eick led the Black Knights (4-5) with 19 points and Alan Hoelzle added 11.

FREDONIA — Carson Swanson had 30 points, nine steals, seven rebounds and four assists to lead Westfield past nonleague Allegany-Limestone 50-42 at SUNY Fredonia on Sunday.
Zach Maguire added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolverines (13-1), who led 29-22 at halftime.
Collin Forrest and Caleb Strade scored 12 points apiece for the Gators (8-3).

SHERMAN — Behind 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocked shots from Jacob Ferranto, Sherman handed Forestville its first loss, 59-47, in a nonleague game.
Nolan DeKoning added 15 points and Carson Pinzok grabbed 13 rebounds for the winners, who improved to 6-6 overall.
For the Hornets (9-1), Jacob Anders poured in 28 points and Blake Waterman added eight rebounds and five steals.

OLEAN — The first quarter proved to be the difference as Olean outscored Dunkirk 14-4 in the first quarter and held on for a 61-49 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 game.
Leading the way for the Huskies (5-6, 4-2) were Luca Quinn and Joe Mest with 15 points apiece.
The Marauders dropped to 3-8 overall and 1-6 in the division.
WHITE, EICK SHINE
SILVER CREEK — Simon White and Brady Eick each had a double-double as Silver Creek topped Cassadaga Valley 45-33 in Division 3 play Saturday.
White had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six steals; Eick had 19 points and 10 rebounds; and Alan Hoelzle grabbed 14 rebounds for the Black Knights (4-4, 1-3).
The Cougars fell to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the league.
