Wolverines, Cougars post wins at Westfield Winter Classic

WESTFIELD — The Westfield girls basketball team kicked off the Westfield Winter Classic with a huge 67-20 victory over Dunkirk on Friday.

Mackenzie Schumaker paced the Wolverines (3-3) with 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers and making four steals. Sydney Hotchkiss added 12 points, five rebounds and three steals, Olivia Wolfe had 11 points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals, Sophia Wolfe made four assists, three boards and three steals and Reagan Weingart dealt three blocks with four boards and two steals.

Dunkirk (0-5) was led by Ashley Collazo with 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals and Emaladie Pacheco made three assists with two steals and a block.

The Wolverines will play Cassadaga Valley in today’s championship at 5 p.m., while Dunkirk plays North East (Pa.) in the consolation game prior at 3:30.

WESTFIELD — Emily Anderson scored 19 points as Cassadaga Valley defeated North East (Pa.) 48-42 in the Westfield Winter Classic.

Anderson also grabbed four steals and made two assists for the Cougars, Aliyah Hopkins scored 15 points with 10 rebounds in a double-double effort and dished four blocks and Hailey Anderson made four steals with three rebounds.

Cassadaga Valley (4-1) will play the hosts in today’s final, while North East (Pa.) takes on Dunkirk.

North East (Pa.) was led in scoring by Jalyssa Wicker with 12 and Maisy Post with 10.

CARDS FALL TO ST. MARYS

RANDOLPH — Mila Bissett drained eight 3-pointers in a 36-point effort to propel St. Mary’s of Lancaster past Randolph 69-52 in nonleague girls basketball action on Friday night.

Jada Mushat added 15 points and Macey Kovach scored 10 for the Lancers.

Randolph kept pace with St. Mary’s in the first quarter, but fell off as Bisset continued hitting triples. The Cardinals were led by Skylar Herington with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists, Gianna Bowles provided 11 points, five boards and four assists, Payton Morrison scored 10 points with four rebounds, Sadie Steward dealt six assists with six rebounds and Quinn Pence had five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

MAYVILLE — Ava Nyweide scored 12 points and collected six rebounds as Clymer held off Chautauqua Lake 35-33 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 action.

Elli Bodamer added 10 points, three assists, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals for the Pirates (2-3, 2-2), Alyssa Pratt also had three assists and two steals, Hannidy Goetzinger made nine rebounds and two steals, Harleigh Faulkner collected five rebounds and four steals and Janelle Burchanowski had four boards and three steals.

Chautauqua Lake (0-7, 0-3) was led by Kaylee Tarr with 8 points and five rebounds, Eden Ludwig also scored 8 points, Kendra Tarr had four steals, Anna Reyda collected five rebounds and Brina Jacobson scored 8 with six rebounds.

PANTHERS CRUISE BY BROCTON

BROCTON — Danielle West scored 11 points, dealt five assists and had five steals to lead Pine Valley past Brocton 61-10 in nonleague action.

Sarah Kruszka added 10 points with eight assists and eight steals for the Panthers (4-1), Danica Farnham scored 10 with eight boards, Ava West also had 10 with seven rebounds and Sandy Ivett made five assists with two steals and four rebounds.

Brocton (0-7) received 10 rebounds from Zoe Spiller.
