Sliwa breaks record for Hornets
Junior scores 43 vs. North Collins
NORTH COLLINS — Carilene Sliwa poured in a school-record 43 points to go along wtih 17 steals as Forestville beat North Collins 64-27 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 girls basketball Friday.
Sliwa, a junior, scored 10 points in the first quarter and 15 more in the second as she went into halftime with 25 points. After a scoreless third quarter, Sliwa added her final 18 points in the fourth quarter. Remarkably, Sliwa converted 16 of her steals into layups.
The 43 points broke Kelly Schonhart’s record of 36, set in 1991.
Chymerah Genovese had 10 points; Ingrid Gibson had 9 points and six rebounds; and Elizabeth Case added nine rebounds and seven steals for the Hornets (8-9, 6-6).
James Pisa, Morgan Kreinheder and Ashley Niefergold scored 6 points apiece for the Eagles (2-11, 2-9).

FALCONER — CeCe John scored 28 points as Gowanda beat Falconer 53-45 to even their Division 3 girls basketball season series.
Addison Kota added 10 points for the Panthers (6-12, 1-9), who trailed 26-21 at halftime before a 19-10 third quarter.
Augustine Krenzer led the Golden Falcons (6-12, 1-9) with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three assists. Ellyson Baglia had 14 points and eight rebounds, while Nazaariah Neal handed out five assists.

MAYVILLE — Four girls scored in double figures as Lake Shore beat Chautauqua Lake 69-36 in nonleague play.
Chasity LeRoy led the visitors with 16 points, Katsi Jackson had 13, Lucie Scarpine had 11 and Nicole Vaught had 10.
Lake Shore (13-5) led 24-9 after the first quarter and 41-20 at halftime.
Kaylee Tarr paced Chautauqua Lake (2-16) with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

SOUTH DAYTON — Danica Farnham had 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Pine Valley to a 61-9 nonleague victory over Brocton.
Sandy Ivett added 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Danielle West had 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Panthers (14-4, 10-1 CCAA D4).
The Bulldogs, who finished 0-14 in Division 2, fell to 1-19 overall.
