Steelers hockey rolls Bishop Timon

The Dunkirk/Fredonia Steelers varsity hockey team continued league action as they hosted Bishop Timon on Saturday and posted a 8-0 win in WNYHSCHL play at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

Through a balanced effort, the Steelers showcased eight different scorers in their shutout victory. In the first period, goals by Emmett Williams (assisted by Brayden Bugaj), Marcus Crane (assisted by Alex Madurski), and Jack Frame (unassisted) all found the back of the net to give Dunkirk/Fredonia a 3-0 lead.

In the second, the Steelers added goals from Mason Miller (unassisted), Blake Waterman (assisted by Bugaj and Miller), and Bugaj to stretch the score to 6-0.

The closing period saw Ayden Wronski (assisted by Waterman) and Joey Worczak (assisted by Landon Trippi) add to the commanding lead and close out the game 8-0.

Steelers starting goalie Braiden Truby secured the shutout by turning away all 16 shots he faced on the night.

Crane and Worczak both marked a memorable night as they recorded their first career varsity goals.

Dunkirk/Fredonia currently stand at 5-7-2 overall in the WNYHSCHL White Division. The Steelers next games feature league matchups with Orchard Park today at Leisure Rinks and Dunkirk/Fredonia will close out the regular season at home on Thursday when Jamestown visits Steele Hall at 6:30 p.m.
