Holding a narrow lead against the division champions, the Dunkirk boys basketball needed some clutch shots to keep Salamanca from coming back. Well, K’Vion Tell had the answer hitting both of his free throws in the final 30 seconds of Tuesday’s game and the Marauders held on for the 59-57 upset victory to close out the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 season.
Tell finished with 12 points for the Marauders (7-12, 3-9), while Greg Orcutt led the way with a game-high 16 points. However, it was the depth scoring in a complete team effort that lifted the Marauders with Avery Krystofiak scoring 12 points and Malik McCall adding 10.
Salamanca (16-3, 10-2) was led by Maddox Issac and Avery Brown with 14 points apiece, while Jaxon Crouse had 13.
