Kelly, Pratt help Section VI to D2 bowling title

SYRACUSE — On the second day of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling Tournament at AMF Strike N Spare Lanes on Saturday, the Section VI Division 2 Composite Team won the state championship.
Fredonia’s Ryan Kelly and Southwestern’s Anthony Pratt were members of the six-team squad that bested nine other composite squads from around the state.
Section VI finished with a six-game total of 6,570, which was 35 pins better than Section III, which finished with a 6,535 total. Section IV finished third with a 6,503 total.
Pratt finished with the high six-game series for the Section VI team with a 1,393 total (197-267-244-200-206-279), which was third overall in Division 2. His 279 game was the second-highest game in the tournament.
Kelly finished tied for the second-highest six-game series for Section VI with a six-game total of 1,287 (198-203-164-255-265-202). His second three-game block totaled 722.
Section VI had individual games of 1,068-1,159-1,030-1,080-1,143-1,090. The team was in third place and trailed Section III by 197 pins after the first three games. Section VI’s 3,313 in the second three-game block was the high total by 93 pins.
GIRLS
SYRACUSE — Helped by the eighth-place individual finish of Frewsburg’s Kelsey Fischer, the Section VI team finished second in Division 2 at the NYSPHSA Tournament at AMF Strike N Spare Lanes.
Fischer rolled a 236-159-231-197-212-302-1,238 for a 206.33 average. As a team, Section VI finished with a 6,183 pin total, just 16 pins from first-place Section II (6,199).
In Division 1, Jamestown’s Addison Cappalino placed 24th with a linescore of 199-178-193-212-213-194-1,189, helping Section VI (6,253) to a third-place finish behind first-place Section 11 (6,624) and second-place Section II (6,486).
