Dunkirk’s Orcutt named to CCAA D1 first team
Despite Salamanca winning its first 10 league games to clinch the league title, Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 was as wide open as ever this winter.
Six of the seven teams found a first-team representative on the league’s all-star team.
Allegany-Limestone senior Carson Kwiatkowski was named the league’s Most Valuable Player after averaging 21.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game for the Gators.
Dunkirk senior Greg Orcutt joined Kwiatkowski after averaging 19.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game for the Marauders.
Falconer junior Roger Markham joined the first team after averaging 21.2 points, 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game for the Golden Falcons.
Salamanca senior Maddox Isaac averaged 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game for the Warriors on his way to a first-team spot.
Southwestern senior Chase Hartnett also made the first team after turning in 17.1 points, 2.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals per night for the Trojans.
The final member of the first team was Olean junior Mykel Rivera, who averaged 15.5 points per game for the Huskies.
Dunkirk sophomore K’Vion Tell, Olean junior Dominic Giovine and Salamanca senior Avery Brown were joined by Fredonia senior Ashton Putney and junior RJ Koopman on the league’s second team.
Salamanca’s Adam Bennett was named the Coach of the Year, while Dunkirk earned the Team Sportsmanship Award with Orcutt the Marauders’ Individual Sportsmanship Award winner. Dunkirk junior Malik McCall was named the Byron Norton Award winner.
