Falconer no-hits Portville; NC walks off
FALCONER — Falconer’s Emily Rhinehart struck out 15 batters and walked nine as she tossed a no-hitter against Portville in a 7-2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 softball victory on Tuesday.
Emily Zaranek went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for Falconer (1-0, 1-0); Mylie Zaranek added two singles and two runs; Augustine Krenzer went 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs; and Rhinehart had a double with an RBI.
Ella Waters tossed five strikeouts and gave up three walks and six hits over five innings for Portville. The Panthers (0-1, 0-1) received runs from Alexa Schoonover and Lauren Lyle.
NC WALKS OFF AGAINST BROCTON
NORTH COLLINS — After giving up six runs in the top of the seventh inning, North Collins trailed Brocton 17-15 with three outs to get back in the game.
The Eagles responded with two more runs and Lily Montaldi came up to deliver the win as she connected on a single to center that scored Jenna Sickau and delivered North Collins the 18-17 nonleague victory.
North Collins (1-1) was led by Isabelle Contro with six hits and two RBIs and Morgan Kreinheder went 4 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs.
Taylor Proudman was 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Eagles, Ellie Fricano had two hits and 3 RBIs, Karinna Kaufman went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs, Kaley Bunce was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and Mya Tannis hit 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Montaldi picked up 12 strikeouts in the circle for North Collins.
Brocton (0-1) got the bats going with four home runs and leading the way was Paige Miller going 3 for 3 with two homers and 4 RBIs. Joleena Doner went 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs, a double and a homer for the Bulldogs, Colie Bundy was 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs and a homer, Victoria Battaglia had a single and 3 RBIs and Zoe Spiller was 2 for 4 with a double.
Nevaeh Hebner had eight strikeouts for Brocton.
