Fredonia pulls away from Jamestown 20-12

JAMESTOWN — The Fredonia flag football team outscored Jamestown 13-0 in the second half to earn the 20-12 nonleague victory at Strider Field on Friday.
Fredonia quarterback Sophia Utegg connected on two touchdown passes through the air with 107 yards and led the team on the ground with 95 rushing yards. Catching touchdowns for the Hillbillies were Nora Polhamus and Madelyn Polhamus, while Emma Perry rushed for one score.
Juliana Snyder reeled in an interception for the Fredonia (3-1) defense, while Nora Polhamus had a team-high seven flag pulls and Megan Ivory had two sacks.
The Red & Green was led by Kaylee Leeper on the ground with 108 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. Leeper also had seven flag pulls and two interceptions for Jamestown.
Abbe Brandow added 59 yards through the air on two catches for Jamestown, with one being a 47-yard touchdown.
Jamestown’s defense was led by Gracie Melquist with eight flag pulls, including three for loss with a sack. Kayamara Strudrick and JaLeiya Glover both had seven flag pulls and one each for a loss.
Jamestown (0-2) is still in search of its first win and will have to wait until April 18 against West Seneca. Fredonia returns after spring break in a road game against Lackawanna.
