Fredonia softball posts win on Monday
GOWANDA — The Fredonia softball team picked up its first win of the season on Monday with a 12-1 victory over Gowanda.
The Panthers scored their only run in the bottom of the first when Alayna Fish led off with a double and was knocked home by Addison Kota who finished 2 for 3 with a triple.
Otherwise, it was all Fredonia and both Rihanna Benner and Ava Muck hit 2 for 3 with a double, Anna Delcamp nearly homered with a double that hit the top of the wall and Cassie Cramer finished 1 for 4 with a double.
Danielle Palisin picked up the win for the Hillbillies (1-1) as she pitched four innings and gave up one run on three hits and struck out two. Delcamp finished the game for Fredonia and gave up just two more hits and struck out another two.
Gowanda (2-1) started Jenna Luther in the circle and gave up three earned runs on two hits and five walks over three innings with three strikeouts. Then Gracie Eddy tossed the final four innings and struck out one, walked one and gave up one earned run on eight hits.
